HOUSTON GOES TO THE CAPITOL

Two opportunities to join us and fellow advocates to have your voices heard in Austin.

houston goes to the capitol glbt political caucus

The Texas Legislature is in session now, and we have local elected officials that wish to pass discriminatory bills right here in the state of Texas. On March 13, the Houston GLBT Political Caucus is partnering with local Houston organizations to head to Austin to talk to our lawmakers about a variety of issues that impact Houston’s diverse, intersectional community, including immigration, racial justice, economic equity, and LGBTQ Equality.

All you need to bring is yourself! We’ll provide transportation from Houston to Austin and information on all the issues so you’re ready and able to ask your elected leaders about ending discrimination against LGBTQ Texans, rejecting anti-immigrant policies that turn Texans against our neighbors, and asking lawmakers to vote against bills that seek to deny access to women and continue to oppress marginalized communities.

Transportation will leave the Montrose Center at 6am and we will return by 7pm.

Equality Texas, ACLU of Texas, Human Rights Campaign, Texas Freedom Network, and Transgender Education Network of Texas invite you to participate in YOUR government and to come to Austin on Monday, March 20th, for our All In For Equality Advocacy Day. Join us to have face-to-face conversations at the Texas Capitol about LGBTQ equality issues that matter most to you and your family.

This is an opportunity for YOU to ask state leaders to pass inclusive policies that protect all Texans, including our children; and end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

Advanced registration is required in order to prepare constituent-matched materials and make strategic lobbying team assignments. Lunch will be provided.

*The $5 registration fee is to reduce the no show rate of participants. If you require a registration fee waiver in order to register for this event, please contact Robert Salcido via email at robert.salcido@equalitytexas.org before submitting this form.
