We’re all on board (in the same boat) working to prevent LGBTQ youth homelessness. Salon interviewed HUD Secretary Julian Castro about the newly-launched LGBTQ Homeless Youth Prevention Initiative, which is charged with identifying successful strategies to ensure that sexual minority youth are not without a home. Houston and Cincinnati were selected as the first two cities to participate.

NEST, a collaborative effort led by the Montrose Center and involving more than 60 local youth service providers, represents Houston’s engagement with HUD and Lauper’s True Colors Fund. Read more about the NEST collaborative and our 3-year plan to begin ending LGBTQ youth homelessness in Greater Houston here.
