TESTIFY AT THE PEOPLE’S HEARING ON REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE. Come hear from “expert witnesses” and tell Texas politicians we will not tolerate their attacks that disproportionately impact women, LGBTQ individuals, people of color, immigrants, parents, young Texans, folks working hard to make ends meet, and rural communities. Bills like HB 14 and HB 214, peddled by anti-choice leaders in Austin, will directly cut off access to preventive care, family planning, cancer screening, STI testing and prevention, and abortion care for Houstonians.
This will be a bilingual event (English and Spanish). Childcare will be available.
You’ll have the opportunity to hear updates on the special legislative session that’s happening in Austin, learn about harmful legislation that does nothing more than further stigmatize abortion care in our state, and tell state politicians that these bills do not align with our values as Houstonians or Texans.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring a two-minute story or testimony of how what the Texas lege is doing impacts you and the people you love — this will be recorded and will be online after the event
Bring a printed version of your testimony to have it submitted for possible reading on house floor by elected officials (include your Name, Texas House District #).
Bring signs, shirts, pictures of loved ones — REMEMBER: this is your hearing — unlike at the Capitol, you can clap, whistle hoop, holler in support of your people.
