Hatch Youth is Texas’ oldest youth-led LGBTQIA organization, and the annual Hatch Youth prom is one way that we celebrate them.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped provide an affirming, safe place for local LGBTQ youth to celebrate their authentic selves at June 3rd’s LGBTQIA Youth Neon Prom. More than 300 LGBTQ youth and supporters attended the 26th annual event at Numbers Night Club, benefiting Hatch Youth Services.

What a night it was! Hair stylist and makeup artist volunteers from Blue Mambo Hair Salon and Roots Salon were on-site to be sure that the youth looked and felt their best.

Deejay Stephanie Saint Sanchez kept the energy high with favorite tunes from today and yesterday. Taking requests from the youth all night, the dance floor remained packed.

Emcee Blackberri entertained the youth with her wit; she provided a great performance for the youth and gave out door prizes throughout the evening. Most were donated by the staff of the Montrose Center, as well as by Saving Our Sisters United (SOSU) and the Mahogany Project. Grand prize winners took home $150 gift cards donated by Roots Salon!

The night culminated in the crowning of four equal, non-binary Prom Monarchs, voted on by their peers throughout the evening.

More than 50 volunteers were there to be sure the youth had the best experience possible, including groups from Microsoft, KPMG and Asurion.

As always, Prom was free for LGBTQ youth ages 13 through 20.

This event is only possible because of the support of generous donors, who exceeded the costs and raised vital funds for Hatch Youth’s year-round efforts. Their support will provide weekly support groups & social activities, in-school youth support & diversity training to educators, as well as homeless prevention, rapid rehousing, & intervention efforts to more than 700 LGBTQIA youth this year.

Huge thanks to our Event Sponsors!
