Group for Transgender Spanish-Speakers
To be a transgender person of color is to face numerous complex challenges, not only in mainstream society, but also within family-of-origin culture and even the LGBT crowd itself. Having limited command of the English language really complicates things. Fortunately, in a city the size of Houston, nearly everyone can find community.
To that end, the Montrose Center has started a free peer group for transgender Spanish-speakers–Grupo de Apoyo para Transexuales–now meeting every Tuesday at 6pm in room 111 of the Cultural Center (First Floor). If someone you know self-identifies as “transgénero” or “transexual,” please share the news.
