50,000 Thanks

If you were not able to attend our annual fundraising dinner, please take a minute click here to find out what you missed.

Some changes are afoot, not the least of which was the announcement that  Montrose Counseling Center was growing into a new name with a very optimistic future. We are now The Montrose Center.

We also changed the name of the event, from The Secret’s Out to Fulfilling the Vision. Executive Director Ann Robison says that the change is synonymous with our mission, which we can summarize in three words — Empowering LGBT Houston. Robison says that counseling will continue to be one of the arterial programs we offer, but we are expanding into a whole new area of wellness that encompasses so much more.

Our first Fulfilling the Vision dinner raised more than $50,000, and we simply could not have done it without so many good friends, among them:

  • Sal & Marcus for sharing their incredibly moving stories in our video
  • Judge Steven Kirkland for hosting the event so graciously
  • First Lady Kathy Hubbard for inspiring such generous support
  • Daryl Shorter for delivering such a powerful speech
  • LIFE Counseling Program Coordinator Brittany Burch for encouraging her clients to share their stories and for giving voice to their experiences
  • Dr. Michael Kauth from our Board of Directors for all his help in creating our new brand and for delivering the big news
  • Dalton Dehart for taking photos
  • All of our table captains for inviting our guests and being such wonderful hosts
  • Our fabulous team of volunteers, who executed the vision
  • Event Sponsors: Silver Eagle Distributors, Southwest Airlines, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, & Jim Benton of Houston Catering and Event Planning

Community Projects Specialist Meleah Jones, who organizes the dinner, says that she continues to be impressed by the collaboration by so many who share a commitment to the LGBT community.

Jones wants you to know that it’s not too late to add to our success. Simply click here for more information, testimonials and a letter from our Executive Director with other ways you can invest in the work we’re doing.
