Taking Care of Our Own

Will you be a part of giving history? Set up your May 9 Donation Now!

We are a proud city, and we have good reason. Houston has been ranked THE MOST PHILANTHROPIC city in the country by Charity Navigator. Of the $10.2 Billion dollars given to charity by Houstonians last year, estimators gauge that less than five percent was LGBT persons supporting LGBT agencies. You can be a part of a national campaign to mobilize donors on May 9 to give to a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to serving this community.

National Give OUT Day is a project of Bolder Giving in partnership with the Kevin Mossier Foundation and Forward Motion. They announced the launching of the first annual event at the Creating Change 2013 Conference held in Atlanta.

Give OUT Day Coordinator Noris Chavarría says more than 500 LGBT nonprofits are participating in the campaign, and the Montrose Center is one of them.

“The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments on two central issues on the fight for LGBT equality,” says Ann J Robison, PhD, Executive Director of the Montrose Center, “and every day another corporation, celebrity, or sports figure joins the cause, raising the visibility of countless disparities our community faces, whether it’s marriage equality, serving openly in the military, access to affirming healthcare, survivorship benefits, etc.”

The list goes on.

If you believe in the power and impact of LGBT nonprofit organizations and the work we do every day, please unite with thousands of donors around the country and support the first annual Give OUT Day. You may go there now and schedule a one-time donation for May 9, or you can become a sustainable donor with a recurring gift.
