The purpose of this course is to bring the knowledge presented in academia about our community and its challenges to those who learn best in a classroom setting. World AIDS Day is a day to raise awareness about HIV and remember the community members and loved ones we have lost to AIDS. Houston ranks 11th in the nation for new HIV transmissions. Over 26% of those new transmissions will be diagnosed with AIDS, and there are 29,643 people living with HIV in Houston/Harris County. What does it take to change these numbers?
