As one of the agencies to be up and running just 24 hours after Hurricane Ike struck the Gulf Coast, we urge our volunteers, staff, clients and supporters to put in a place a disaster plan. Although hurricanes don’t usually affect us here in Texas until later in the season, it’s never too early to get ready, especially if you want to avoid the last minute rush for supplies. MCC has put together a disaster preparedness guide that provides some basic information should you need to evacuate or shelter in place. Please click here to download a pdf copy of the guide, or pick one up in our lobby on the 2nd Floor, 401 Branard. For more information about the importance of preparedness for the GLBT community, you may read this article from MCC’s June 2010 newsletter.
