Join us on Thursday, January 26th at 6:30 p.m. in the GLBT Cultural Center for the Houston premiere of GenSilent — a critically-acclaimed documentary from filmmaker Stu Maddux (Bob and Jack’s 52-Year Adventure, Trip to Hell and Back) that follows six GLBT seniors in their struggle to survive in the care system. It puts a face on what experts in the film call an epidemic: GLBT older people so afraid of discrimination by caregivers or bullying by other seniors that many simply go back into the closet. GenSilent also discovers how oppression in the years before Stonewall affects older GLBT people today. More about the film is at http://www.gensilent.com/.

This FREE screening will be followed by a call-to-action and panel discussion with some of Houston’s GLBT senior leaders.

This event is sponsored by Montrose Counseling Center / Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years, with generous support from the John Steven Kellett Foundation and US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
