Our 2012 Wellness Resolution

It’s a new year, and Montrose Counseling Center is making a resolution to keep our community healthy.  The EMBody program includes a variety of services for individuals seeking a whole-health approach to wellness and recovery, like our Whole Health, Wellness, and Resiliency Peer Support Group, which meets on Monday afternoons.  The Whole Health group helps participants set and achieve realistic wellness goals, such as getting active, sleeping better, or managing negative self-talk.  New members can join at any time, so don’t hesitate to stop by and give us a try.

We are very excited that as part of our new wellness campaign,  pleased to announce that Montrose Counseling Center will be come a smoke-free campus starting in June of 2012.  To ease the transition, we’ll be offering smoking cessation classes throughout the spring.  If the idea of quitting is stressing you out, we also have a selection of free wellness programs through out the week, including yoga and meditation.  You can check our wellness calendar for a full schedule.  Have an idea for a new class, or a skill you’d like to share with the community?  Please contact volunteer coordinator Megan Caldwell at (713) 529 – 0037 extension 395.

We are in the process of adding the EMBody FIT workout facility to the wellness program.  The room will be equipped with a treadmill, elliptical machine, and recumbent bike, all available for clients to use free of charge.  If you’ve never worked out before, don’t worry!  An attendant will be on duty to show you how to use the machines and help you get started.
