Spotlight: MCC Supporter Southern Country Houston – Dancing Its Way into the Hearts of HATCH

Southern Country Houston (SoCoHo) is a non-profit country and western dance club. Its mission is three-fold, promoting education, fundraising, and social activities for the GLBT community. Each year, SoCoHo selects one beneficiary of its annual fundraising efforts, and HATCH is proud to be chosen as the 2010-2011’s beneficiary.

Since its inception in 1991, SoCoHo has been fundraising for the community with fun events like Thursday evenings’ dance lessons, where it teaches new steps, dance etiquette, line dances, and so much more. SoCoHo’s proud sponsor the Brazos River Bottom (BRB) at 2400 Brazos, hosts Thursdays’ dance lessons.

Membership has its privileges. Dues are tax deductible, and because SoCoHo is a member of the International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs, members may participate in all association activities. SoCoHo’s team, Wildfire, participates in national competitions. The membership year is April 1 – March 21, so plan to join in the coming weeks!

Saddle up for some country dancing fun!

Join SoCoHo as they celebrate their 20th Annual Sweethearts in Texas Spring Fling Hoedown and raise money for HATCH. All events will take place at Southern Country Houston’s home bar, the Brazos River Bottom (BRB), at 2400 Brazos. Activities include: dance lessons, receptions, and shows hosted by Marty Hernandez, Xavier Luna, and the talented members of ERSICSS. Donations and raffle-ticket sales will be donated to HATCH.
