Thanks to our sponsors and many guests, Bringin' in the Green was a success!

Our 21st annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration was a success! Due to the generous support of the party’s hosts, sponsors, and attendees, more than $10,000 was raised at Bringin’ in the Green on March 12.

I want to thank hosts John Danielson and Dwane Todd for making the party such a success. From the enthusiastic promotion of the party to the generous underwriting of the costs, their efforts were vital to our ability to raise funds. Due to their support, every penny will go to direct client services. On behalf of MCC’s clients, staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors, I’d like to thank them for their ongoing support.

A local legend for his fabulous parties, John Danielson has blessed us by hosting the party for several years. The first time I attended Bringin’ in the Green, I could not get over its location. I fell in love with the house’s quaint charm and was struck by the beautiful artwork. As I traveled from the first to the second to the third floor, I was delighted by the different rooms and touched by John’s friendliness. Not only does he wholeheartedly welcome our guests, but he provides the decorations and donates the evening’s beverages.

And the food! If you missed the avocado egg rolls and chocolate cupcakes, you’ll want to be there for next year’s spread. Local attorney Dwane Todd donates his time and talents creating the menu and whipping up the hors d’oeuvres. From a to-die-for seafood dip a few years ago to this year’s fried mushrooms, Dwane’s treats always tickle the taste buds. I must admit that I start anticipating the goodies in January, and I can’t stop thinking about them until June.

As our longest running fundraiser, much of Bringin’ in the Green’s charm comes from its history. This year, in honor of what would have been his 85th birthday, we celebrated the party’s leprechaun Jack Jackson. For many years, Jack attended Bringin’ in the Green dressed as the party’s mascot, soliciting donations for our programs in exchange for shamrock stickers. I want to thank Marion Coleman, Honorary Board Member and one of Jack’s close friends, for stepping into this role in his honor. For more information about Jack Jackson, who spent his life raising funds for MCC and other community groups and who served as the inspiration for our Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years (SPRY) program, click here.

Annual events like Bringin’ in the Green allow MCC to sustain a variety of programs, like SPRY, for which we do not receive grant funding. To learn more about the services MCC offers, I hope you’ll join me for a behind-the-scenes tour. Please contact me at 713.800.0872 or communitydev@montrosecounselingcenter.org to schedule a tour at your convenience. If you are available at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 12, or Thursday, April 22, feel free to stop by.
